Student Disability Services

A coordinator is available to help any student with a disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. In order to offer the best possible guidance and support, those with disabilities are strongly encouraged to contact the SDS coordinator before deciding upon a program area.

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) and the Veterans Administration (VA - DAV) are two certifying agencies which work closely with Student Disability Services (SDS) at Columbus Technical College. Services include:

  • Counseling
  • Interpreter services for the deaf (advance notice is required)
  • Assistance with registration
  • Assistance with tools or equipment purchases for VA/VR students
  • Special testing accommodations (by appointment only)
  • Note takers Absentee waivers
  • Development of an IVP (Individualized Vocational Plan) for students in need as required by section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • other reasonable accommodations (by student request)
