Program Description:

This program provides you with the competencies needed to use equipment safely and also emphasizes a combination of machine tool theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. Learning opportunities develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. Program graduates are competent in the general areas of communications, math, and interpersonal relations and in the technical areas of blueprint reading, widely used machine concepts and practices, fundamentals of computer numerical controls, and characteristics of metal/heat treatment. As a graduate, you will be prepared to enter a professional position as a metal worker and machinist in manufacturing firms, private industry, and government projects. Trained individuals are in great demand to keep industry machinery in good working order and to produce the parts necessary to keep industry moving.
