HERO Scholarship WinnersFebruary 11, 2008 - Four Columbus Technical College students have been awarded the HERO (Helping Educate Reservists and their Offspring) Scholarship for Winter quarter 2008. It is the second time that students Monty Eller (Internet Specialist Degree) and Roberto Martinez (Management Supervisory Development Diploma) were awarded the Scholarship. Joining them this year are Kristina Marshall (Accounting) and Stephen Robertson (Drafting). If they continue to qualify, the students will be awarded up to $2,000 per academic school year. The HERO Scholarship is regulated by the Georgia Student Finance Commission and provides scholarship assistance to military personnel who served in combat zones or to the children of these soldiers. In order to qualify, the soldier/student must be a Georgia resident who is an active member of the Georgia National Guard or U.S. Military Reserves who was deployed outside the United States on active duty service in a combat zone on or after May 3, 2005.
