Over 400 Job Seekers Attend KIA Job Fair

January 31, 2008 – Columbus Technical College saw a record-breaking turnout yesterday for folks hoping to land a job with KIA. Representatives from the Korean-based automaker and the Georgia Department of Labor (DOL) held a job fair at the College on Wednesday, January 30.

Representatives from KIA took time to answer questions about the application process and requirements. KIA reports 426 people stopped by the January 30, 2008 job fair.

Officials with both KIA and the DOL say more people turned out for this job fair than at any of the similar fairs held so far at the other technical colleges in Georgia. The fair was held from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. KIA officials report more than 400 job-seekers stopped by throughout the day. Columbus Technical College's Information Technology Department set up a bank of six computers at the job fair where people could either apply for a job with KIA on-line or learn more about the hiring process. More than 40 people logged on to apply.

KIA and DOL officials have more technical college job fairs on their agenda. In the coming days, they will be at events in Macon, Rome, Augusta and Savannah. KIA will be back in Columbus at a large job fair hosted by the Department of Labor at the Trade Center on February 7th – the last day they will be accepting applications.

Columbus Technical College set up a bank of six computers where attendees could apply on-line. Representatives from the Georgia Department of Labor helped the applicants. More than 40 people used this complimentary service.

KIA is hiring for its up-and-coming manufacturing plant in West Point, Georgia. No paper applications are being accepted – only online applications. Visit www.KiaJobsInGeorgia.com for more.
