CTC Health Sciences Students Lend a Helping Hand to one of their OwnDecember 17, 2007 - Columbus Technical College Health Sciences students have pulled together to help one of their own after a catastrophic car accident landed her in the hospital. Students with the CTC chapter of the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) pooled their own resources to present Surgical Technology student Lisa White with a $50 gift card from Wachovia Bank. Lisa also received $500 from fellow Surgical Technology students to help offset some costs of the holiday season. The students visited Lisa and her husband in Lisa's hospital room on December 10, 2007 and presented the gifts.
Surgical Technology instructor, Carl Sandy, says the generosity of his students wasn't a big shock to him. “It is wonderful that the Surgical Technology students donated their funds they had saved up,” Sandy said. “It doesn't surprise me. They work as a team. When Lisa was in that horrible car accident, her classmates took it upon themselves to do what they could to help her and her family out.” Lisa White was involved in a traffic accident on October 25, 2007 and suffered serious internal injuries.
