Respiratory Care Week Oct 21-26

October 19, 2007 - Respiratory Care Week is celebrated annually on the last full week in October. In conjunction with this event, Lung Health Day is observed on Wednesday of Respiratory Care Week in order to bring lung health issues to the attention of the public. Respiratory Care is the health profession that specializes in cardiopulmonary functions of the body. It usually relates to people with breathing disorders, such as: asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases), cystic fibrosis, chest trauma and/or pneumonia.

Columbus Technical College offers a respiratory care Associate's Degree program. It is designed to prepare students for employment in healthcare facilities where respiratory care is administered as part of the total patient care.
