CTC has Strong Showing at State LPN ConferenceOctober 18, 2007 - Representatives from the Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) field from across Georgia came together for the 25th Annual Georgia Licensed Practical Nurses Association (GLPNA) Conference in Macon earlier this week. Columbus Technical College students and faculty were well represented at the event. Columbus Technical College PN student, Amy Harrell, was the proud recipient of the Byrd/Mize Scholarship. Student Kim Miles was 1st runner up for Student of the Year and Columbus Technical College had the largest number of students attending the conference.
Besides being their governing body, GLPNA is also the "voice" for LPNs, speaking on their behalf to the Georgia legislature and to the State Board of Nursing. The Association serves as an advocate for the State's LPNs when it comes to developing policies and rules of practice.
GLPNA meets once a year in different places around Georgia. On the opening day of the conference, PN students make presentations and learn who wins the special awards. For more on the GLPNA, visit www.glpna.org.
