Dual EnrollmentEarn a Technical Certificate of Credit or technical college credits while still working towards your high school diploma. College-level classes provide both college and high school credit. Classes may be offered at your high school, or at our college campus. Who may participate?High school juniors and seniors* in Harris, Muscogee, Chattahoochee and the Stewart County school systems may participate. Students must successfully meet Columbus Technical College admissions requirements and have permission from their parents. Dual Enrollment is designed for students planning to pursue a technical program of study after high school. How do I enroll?Contact your high school counselor or CTAE Supervisor. Program offerings vary by location. Contact your high school counselor or CTAE Supervisor for a specific list for your high school. Do I have to take a test to enroll?Yes, COMPASS or ASSET is required to help you determine the best course placement to ensure your success. Your high school counselor or Columbus Technical College staff can give you more information and help you schedule the testing. Are Dual Enrollment courses different from regular high school courses?Dual Enrollment courses must meet both high school and college curriculum standards. Generally they cover more material than high school courses, and they are taught by a college instructor. You receive dual credit for each dual enrollment course--credit for high school and college credit. Is Financial Aid available?For qualified Georgia students, tuition and most fees are covered under the HOPE Grant. Joint EnrollmentHigh school students may enroll in selected programs at Columbus Technical College if they meet college admission requirements and have permission from their high school and parents. Once enrolled, students attend standard college classes on the Columbus Technical College campus in addition to their high school classes. Jointly enrolled students are responsible for scheduling college classes outside of high school instruction periods. Students are also responsible for their own transportation to and from Columbus Technical College. Students receive college credit for college courses. High school students interested in enrolling at Columbus Technical College should contact the Director of Admissions at nkennedy@columbustech.edu or 706.649.1174 to get started. ACCELThe ACCEL program allows high school students to get a jump on earning college credits in core subjects. Students take ACCEL courses at Columbus Technical College, and receive both high school and college credit for each class. ACCEL subjects include English, Math and Science. The program is designed for students wishing to pursue a degree at Columbus Technical College or another college/university after graduating from high school. Students must meet ACCEL program admission requirements. Once enrolled, students attend ACCEL classes on the Columbus Technical College campus in addition to their high school classes. Students are responsible for scheduling ACCEL classes outside of high school instruction periods. Students are also responsible for their own transportation to and from Columbus Technical College. Financial Aid is provided by the HOPE Scholarship program.
