Radiologic Technology Degree

This program instructs students in an area of high technology in the field of medicine. Students will experience all the applications of diagnostic imaging, including routine radiography and fluoroscopy, trauma radiography, surgical and mobile radiography, pediatric radiography, as well as subspecialties such as computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultra sound (US) and nuclear medicine (NM) and radiation therapy. Program graduates are eligible to sit for the national accreditation examination, administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), which awards a national certification in Radiology Technology. With the partnerships the college has with area hospitals, students will have the benefits of on-the-job training in a clinical setting.

Students are eligible to participate in Lambda Nu, a national honor society for the radiologic and imaging sciences.

Mission: It is the mission of the Columbus Technical College School of Radiologic Technology to provide an education of excellence and high quality to qualified students in an environment that focuses on continuous quality improvement. In the academic and clinical setting, a curriculum is presented that provides the students opportunities to develop a mastery of subject matter, technical competencies, ethical considerations, and problem solving abilities. The Education provided will foster cooperation, commitment, and individual student responsibility. The student scholar will be able to apply the knowledge attained toward successfully competing in the ever changing health care environment.

Program Admission Requirements:

  1. Present official documentation of an earned high school diploma or official GED Scores.
  2. Be at least 18 years old.
  3. Present appropriate test scores.
  4. Submit the following by October 1 prior to January of the year in which admission is sought:
    1. Letter of Intent Form
    2. Self evaluation form.
    3. Immunization Record
    4. Physical Exam Form
    5. Personal Data Form
    6. Technical Standards Form

Entrance is contingent upon completing a Background Check through H.I.R.E. and a drug screen, which must be completed after being conditionally accepted to the program.
