Practical Nursing Diploma

Program Description: This program is designed to prepare graduates for direct patient care, including medication administration, operation of special equipment, special procedures, and recording pertinent information about patients. Practical Nursing is ideal for those interested in the close, interpersonal aspects of health care. Practical Nursing students receive extensive classroom and lab instruction as well as clinical experience. This program is designed to prepare students to take the NCLEX for Practical Nursing for state licensure. Students must make a "C" or better in all core courses and program courses to proceed in the program.

Length of Program: 95 Credit Hours

Program Admission Requirements:

  1. Present official documentation of an earned high school diploma or official GED scores.
  2. Be at least 17 years old.
  3. Complete prerequisite courses by the end of fall quarter for winter quarter admission or by the end of spring quarter for summer quarter admission.
  4. Submit Letter of Intent, Personal Data Form, Receipt for Background Check, and Immunization Form on or before November 1st for winter quarter admission, or on or before May 1st for summer quarter admission.
  5. Effective January 1, 2008, any student wishing to compete for the Practical Nursing Program must take the Pre-Entrance TEAS exam. This requirement will be effective immediately for the competing class for Summer 2008 and beyond. Students may schedule to take the exam at the testing center.
