Qualified Medication Aide Certificate

The completion of the Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) TCC would provide certified nurse aides with skills to assist with medication administration under the supervision of a registered nurse to clients served by the Department of Human Resources, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases (MHDDAD) in community living arrangements (CLA).  Consumers will not have to reside longer in institutions or nursing homes if provided with trained, competent and certified personnel to assist with medications.  Columbus Technical College is honored to be selected as the provider of this educational opportunity and to participate in this pilot project which will include training unlicensed assistive personnel as Qualified Medication Aides.

Program Admission Requirements:

  1. Present official documentation of an earned high school diploma or official GED Scores.
  2. Be at least 18 years old.
  3. Present appropriate test scores, or present an official transcript documenting college-level English and mathematics with grades of "C" or better.
  4. Completion of Physical Exam form
  5. Must obtain liability insurance.
  6. Uniforms required.
  7. Applicant must currently be employed in a community living arrangement (CLA).

Entrance is contingent upon completing a Background Check through H.I.R.E. which must be completed after being conditionally accepted to the program.
