Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Students Receive Stipends

July 2, 2008 - Columbus Technical College Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) students were greeted with a big surprise when they came to campus Wednesday morning. Each student was awarded a stipend worth $680 to help offset the cost of their education. The stipend originated from the generosity of late Carmike Cinema founder and Columbus resident, Carl Patrick. Once the monies from that source were depleted, the Columbus Technical Foundation was able to secure funds to continue the ADN stipend. All 70 students will receive the stipend, which totals $47,600.

The 70 students represent a partnership between Columbus Technical College, Flint River Technical College in Thomaston and West Georgia Technical College in LaGrange; There are 15 ADN students each at Flint River and West Georgia and 40 ADN students at Columbus. All are participating in the curriculum from Columbus Technical College.

The $680 stipend for each student will be broken down as follows: $390 to cover testing fees at the end of the program, $175 for a uniform and a $115 credit at the bookstore.

Congratulations to all the Associate Degree Nursing students and best wishes for continued success! For information on the ADN or any Health Sciences program, please visit www.columbustech.edu/healthsciences.
